Mollie Kathleen Gold Mine
Located just north of Cripple Creek, the Mollie Kathleen Gold Mine offers a unique glimpse into Colorado's rich mining history. Visitors descend 1,000 feet underground via a vertical shaft to explore the mine's tunnels and learn about the gold extraction processes used over a century ago. The tour includes demonstrations of mining equipment and a ride on an underground tram air locomotive. Note that the mine is currently closed, so check the current status before planning a visit.
Phantom Canyon Road
Phantom Canyon Road, part of the Gold Belt Scenic Byway, is a 29.6-mile unpaved route connecting Florence to Victor. Following the former path of the Florence & Cripple Creek Railroad built in 1894, the road ascends from 5,500 to 9,500 feet in elevation. Travelers encounter two hand-cut stone tunnels and three elevated bridges amidst diverse flora and fauna.
Gold Belt Tour Scenic Byway
The Gold Belt Tour Scenic and Historic Byway is a 131-mile loop that retraces historic routes connecting the Cripple Creek and Victor Mining District to Florence, Cañon City, and Florissant. Designated as a National Scenic Byway, the route encompasses diverse landscapes, from rolling mountain parklands to deep rocky canyons. Travelers can explore remnants of Colorado's gold rush era, including mining towns and fossil areas.
Cripple Creek & Victor Narrow Gauge Railroad
Experience a journey back in time aboard the Cripple Creek & Victor Narrow Gauge Railroad. Departing from a historic 1894 depot, this 45-minute, four-mile round-trip ride offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and passes by historic mining sites. The open-air cars, pulled by a coal-fired steam locomotive, provide an authentic feel of early 20th-century rail travel. The railroad operates seasonally from mid-May to early October.
Donkey Derby Days
Held annually in downtown Cripple Creek, Donkey Derby Days celebrates the town's mining heritage and its resident donkey herd, descendants of the original pack animals used during the gold rush era. The 2025 festival, scheduled for June 27–29, features donkey races, a parade, live music, food vendors, and family-friendly activities. Proceeds support the Two Mile High Club, which cares for the free-roaming donkeys.
Butte Theater
The Butte Theater, originally opened in 1896 as the Butte Concert and Beer Hall, stands as a testament to Cripple Creek's vibrant cultural past. After extensive renovations, it now hosts a variety of performances, including plays, musicals, and classic melodramas, maintaining the theatrical traditions of the early 20th century. The theater operates year-round, with a community season from January to May and a professional season from June to December.

Known for its wood-fired cooking and locally sourced ingredients, the pub also features a sports bar area with live NFL, NHL, and UFC broadcasts. Open Wednesday through Monday.
Lombard's Restaurant
Located within the Double Eagle Hotel & Casino, Lombard's Restaurant offers casual dining with a diverse menu. Open seven days a week for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, the restaurant features a full soup and salad bar, steaks, seafood, pastas, burgers, and specialty sandwiches.
